Feature Overview

The Clinical Notes feature empowers users to access a wide array of documents and files associated with their health records, including clinical notes, discharge instructions, laboratory assessments, care plan documentation, and imaging files.


End User Value

Access to Comprehensive Data: Users can retrieve vital health record information stored in binary HTML, rich text, image, and PDF files, enriching their health data beyond what is available in their FHIR data.


User Journey(s) Enabled

Viewing all clinical notes

  1. User accesses Health Summary and navigates to Clinical Notes section.
  2. User views a timeline of clinic notes listed chronologically.
  3. User selects a clinical note to explore.
  4. User sees document details, including document name, creation time, author, category information, and linked files for viewing or downloading.

Viewing & saving a clinical note associated with a past encounter

  1. User accesses Visit History in Health Summary.
  2. User identifies visits with associated documents.
  3. User selects a visit to reveal referenced documents.
  4. User opens a document as a PDF for viewing and downloads it for saving.

Viewing & saving a laboratory assessment for a lab result

  1. User explores Labs section to review lab results.
  2. User selects a specific lab result to view details, including associated documents.
  3. User opens a document as a PDF and saves it to their device.

Integration with SDK

SDK clients can anticipate access to APIs providing:

  • Paginated lists of all user's clinical notes and related documents within Health Summary
  • Metadata of individual clinical notes (e.g., creation date, author) and associated binaries (PDF, HTML, RTF, images)
  • Clinical notes integration in other Health Summary sections, allowing retrieval of documents related to a specific Resource
  • Ability to request documents associated with Encounters (Visits)
  • Ability to request documents related to Observations (Labs), Procedures, and Diagnoses (Conditions) by way of referenced Encounters

This feature will enhance user engagement by facilitating seamless access to a comprehensive set of health records, fostering a more informed and empowered user experience.
